SALWAR KAMEEZ
Salwar Kameez (shalwar kameez) are beautiful and elegant Indian fashion clothing meant to accentuate the female body. it is closely associated with the women of Punjab, a Northern Indian state that was divided between India and Pakistan after the Partition of 1947. In recent decades, the salwar kameez has spread throughout India into regions and cultures where salwar kameez had only been seen in movies before or on the occasional Punjabi or North Indian tourist. These graceful Indian fashion suits are gaining popularity among non-Indians throughout the world as well. Women, no matter what their cultural or ethnic history, can benefit from the beauty, style and feminine potential of Salwar Kameez .
Salwar are loose pajama like trousers. The legs are wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. The legs are pleated or gathered into a waist tend with a drawstring. In salwars the legs are wide which topers slightly towards the ankles. Traditionally salwars is very comfortable to wear and has lot of space for legs movements. Churridar, patialvi traditional salwar are the types of salwars.
The kameez oe the kurta ia a knee-length flowing shirt or tunic warm over a salwar. The side seams (known as the chak) are left open below the navel which gives the wearer greatee freedom of movement. The tailors taste and skill are usually displayed in the shape of the neckline and the decoration of the kurta. Traditionally kurtas were knee length. But today short kurtas are also available.
A dupatta generally completes the ensemble. When women wear the salwar kameez they usually wear a long scarf or shawl in winter called a dupatta or chunniri around the head or neck. In ancient time women used to put cloth on their head for cultural, religions and practical reasons. Gradually this became a part of fashion as well. Today the duppata is a stylish accessory that can be warm over one shoulder or draped around the chest over both shoulders.
TYPE OF SALWAR KAMEEZ
Salwar kameez can be further categorized into :
Traditional Salwar Kameez
Traditional suit consisting of three pieces: a loose fitting, drawstring pajama like pant, a long, tunic style shirt and a long, complimenting or matching scarf. It is generally accepted that the kameez should come below the knee to the mid-calf region. The kameez is usually fitted throughout the shoulder and bust area and loose from the hips down to the hem. Side walking vents (splits) are added to both sides. Bollywood Fashion (Bollywood is the movie industry of India) tends to depict the salwar kameez with a tight, fitted look along the shoulders and bust areas. Most everyday wearers opt for a bit more room in their suits for comfort and mobility.

Churidar Kameez Suit
The kameez in this suit is like the traditional salwar kameez suit however, the bottoms are cut close and tight to the leg with a good deal extra length added so the material will wrinkle up around your ankle. This style of pant is called Churidar after the Hindi word for bangles Churi.

Parallel Suit
Parallel suits are an updated version of the salwar kameez, very popular among the younger generations of Indian women and many Non-Indian women as well. They are also known as a trouser suit or pant suit in Indian fashion clothing. They usually consist of the same three pieces found in a salwar kameez suit; however, this style of suit can be found without a dupatta as well. The difference between the parallel suit and salwar kameez suit is in the cut and style of the parallel suit. It features a trouser like fit through the hips and thighs and can either be straight down to the ankle like a trouser/pant or it can have a slightly flared leg similar to a boot cut pant. The flare can also be very wide depending on the individual suit and suit wearer’s taste. The most popular choice at this time is the slightly flared look. The pant is often embroidered along the leg or ankle. The top is much shorter than a traditional kameez, and is usually worn above the knee or at hip level. These suits can also be sleeveless, with thin straps, or compeletly strapless depening on the design.

Pajami Style Suit
This style suit is very similar to the churidar suit because it features the same long kameez. The difference is that the pajama (bottoms) does not have as much length in the lower leg and does not wrinkle around the ankle. It is a very slim fitting leg look.
Afghani Suit
This style suit is basically the same as a salwar kameez suit as it consists of the same three pieces. The difference lies in the cut and style of the suit. The salwars are very loose, featuring a many pleated look. The salwar is very baggy and is often embroidered along the leg or ankle. The kameez is shorter than a traditional suit, ranging from mid-thigh to above the knee. This suit can be sleeveless.

Indo-West Fusion
This term is often used to describe salwar kameez (shalwar kameez) suits that combine both Indian and Western styles and designs. The parallel suit (as described above) is a good example of Indo-West Fusion and these two terms are often used interchangeably.

Patiala Salwar Kameez
Patiala Salwar Kameez as the name suggests comes from Patiala in the State of Punjab in Northern India. The King of Patiala in earlier times had its Royal dress as Salwar Kameez or Salwar Qameez. The salwar kameez has lowers as salwar and long knee length top known as kameez. Now the dress is not getting worn by men but has classically transformed itself with new cuts and styling into women salwar kameez.
The next innovation to salwar kameez after churidar was the short kurta pant. With westernization the salwar kameez adapted to fashion changes in the West in terms of cut, length and hemlines. The kurta did sneak up quite a few inches above the knee. And instead of the salwar, pants were worn, making it ideal for office and formal wear. The short kurtas came in different styles, some embroidered some plain. The pants came in parallel, capris and bell-bottom styles. Short kurtas are also called as kurtis. The salwar kameez seems to offer limitless design possibilities.
The popularity and comfort of the salwar kameez has reached such stupendous heights that most of the new breed designers have started channelizing a major portion of their creative abilities to give this ensemble a new look. From time to time new names and styles were introduced in the Indian salwar kameez market. Salwar Kameez is a basic pattern of traditional North Indian dress. As the fashion grew in the new era, the designing, styles and the shapes of the basic pattern has changed. Latest the name of sharara salwar kameez is very popular amongst the teenagers not only in India but in the whole world.
Sharara salwar is wide legs pant, look like full skirts with draw string waist. The pants are fitted till the knee, with a big flare from the knee onwards or a kind of loose, trailing pajama worn by women. In short, a sharara is a loose flowing gown divided in between.
Bandhej Salwar Kameez
WhilePatiala salwar reflects the Punjab royalty, Bandhej Salwar Kameez design showcases the elegance of Rajasthani and Gujarati royals.
All that make it stand apart from all salwar kameez patterns is its bandhej prints. The base is tied and then dyed with many colours resulting into beautiful paintwork with or without creases. The colors are usually vibrant like yellow, violet, red, green blue etc.
Dress wise it's a normal salwar kameez style, the uniqueness lies in the delicacy and intricacy of the Bandhani work.

Anarkali Pattern Kameez
The upper portion of the kameez is called choli and is heavily embroidered and the lower flared portion of kameez is highlighted with beautiful border and kalidar patterns. The current design of Anarkali style of salwar is available in varied prints, materials, embroidery work, designer sleeves and stylish necks. Rich embroidery gives it a very royal, ethnic look.
