Well, it is due to its extreme comfort that it has become a popular choice amongst the other nightwear available. An interesting thing about kurta is that its sleeves do not narrow down (as in the case of most of the sleeves designed in the western style) and fall straight to the wrist. A kurta does not have cuffed sleeves and its side seams are left open for the easy movement of the wearer. The traditional kurtas do not have any collar and their openings are usually centered on the chest. Embroidered kurta Pyjamas

Chikan work Kurta

Chikan men kurtas are basically traditional embroidery style kurtas that were first manufactured in Lucknow, India. Chikan work executed on kurtas is designed for men, quite popular during the season time that would include weddings and similar grand and special occasions.
The term “Chikan” work refers to a special kind of “embroidery” which is worked upon with expensive threads such as satin threads and mostly come in all the colors.
A distinction of the Chikan work which is executed on large scale on Men's kurtas is referred to as “bakhia”. In this particular design, the work is carried out from the back where the stitches are covered by the design in a particular herringbone style.The shadow of the thread is apparent through the kurta on the right side. In order to augment the kurta to a higher level, the Chikan designs are produced with tiny backstitches on the right side over the shadow.The Chikan work pattern is done so skillfully and delicately that the turned in edges of the cut pieces are hardly visible from the front of the work.

Zari work kurta

It is also a very popular kurta pyjama design. The zari work kurta is typically done with a gold thread accompanied by sequins, stones and other embellishments.

STITCHES USED IN KURTA

There are various patterns and effects used in order to create designs for Men's kurtas. Each and every single piece of kurta requires special type of stitches and the thickness of the threads used also differs from pattern to pattern.

TYPES OF KURTA

KALIDAR KURTA
The kalidar kurta is made from several geometrical pieces. It has two rectangular central panels in the back and the front. The width of these panels is almost equal to the shoulder size and the length varies from above the thigh to below the knees. Four, flared-side panels called kali, are attached on either side of the central panels. Their shape is roughly triangular, narrow at the top and wider at the bottom to achieve the desired fullness. This ensures a snug fit around the chest, which lends the lower part a loose-flared fall. Comfort is further emphasized by deep slits at the side seam. The sleeves, which are generally full-length, are also rectangular. They are cut square at the top and the armholes are set somewhat deep. Small triangular gussets are then inserted under the arms and the sleeves taper very slightly towards the wrist. The neck of the kurta is often round; although it may sometimes also have a Chinese collar and most garments have a side pocket. The centre front opening has a placket with buttons and buttonholes as closures. Sometimes, buttonholes are made on both sides of the placket, into which silver or gold buttons are inserted, which are held together by ornamental chains.
TRADITIONAL KURTA
The traditional kurta is designed in a way that the sleeves do not narrow and fall straight to the wrist. It usually has button closures in the front, however some designs feature buttons at the shoulder seam. Although the traditional kurtas do not have any collars, the modern designs do feature stand up or "mandarin" collars. The most common and preferred decoration is embroidery either done in matching or contrasting or vibrant colored threads. Gold thread or zardozi is also used to enhance its appeal. Original kurta has two central panels, back and front, which bulge out at the bottom. The armholes are also shaped and the sleeves are fitted into them with a gusset.
JHULKI KURTA

A shorter variation of the Rajasthani kurta is the jhulki. Interestingly, both the men and women of the Garasia community in Rajasthan wear it. The men`s jhulki is essentially white in colour. It is a half-sleeved garment that has three buttons on the front. It has a pocket stitched on the left side of the bodice.
FUSHION KURTA

More recently, men have also adopted a garment, which is a cross between the classic men`s shirt and the traditional kurta. This pattern has been adopted as casual attire of urban men as well. It has a shirt collar, cuffed sleeves and a kurta placket. It is as long as a kurta and its cut is the same but the hem is shaped with short slits t the side seam.

Pajamas, also spelled pyjamas can refer to several related types of clothing. The original paijama are loose, lightweight trousers fitted with drawstring waistbands and worn in South andWest Asia by both sexes. In many English-speaking nations, pajamas are loose-fitting, two-piece garments derived from the original garment and worn chiefly for sleeping, but sometimes also for lounging,[3]also by both sexes.[4] More generally, pajamas may refer to several garments, for both daywear and nightwear, derived from traditional pajamas and involving variations of style and material. The term 'pyjama' crept into the English language from Hindustani, a language from which Urdu and Hindi originated. The word originally derives from the Persian word 'Payjama' meaning 'leg garment'. It was due to the British colonialization of India that the term 'pajama' and the dress spread to other parts of the world.

TYPES OF PYJAMA

TRADITIONAL PYJAMA

Traditional pajamas consist of a jacket-and-trousers combination made of soft fabric, such as flannel; the jacket has a placket front and its sleeves have no cuffs.
CONTEMPORARY PYJAMA
These are derived from traditional pajamas, and may be variations of style only, such as short sleeve pajamas, pajama-bottoms of varying length, or, on occasion, one-piece pajamas,or may involve variation in material used as well. Chiefly in the US, the latter type may refer to stretch-knit sleep apparel with rib-knit trimmings. Usually worn by children, these garments have pullover tops (if two-piece) or have zippers down the fronts (if one-piece), and may also be footed. Although pajamas are usually distinguished from non-bifurcated sleeping garments such as nightgowns, in the US, they can sometimes include the latter, as in baby doll pajamas

Even more generally, pajamas may refer to women's combination daywear, consisting of short-sleeved or sleeveless blouses and lightweight pants; examples of these are Capri pajamas, beach pajamas, and hostess pajamas.
